Sevoflurane Anesthetic for Dogs
Parnell Technologies has released Sevoflurane Inhalation Anesthetic, an FDA-approved product for dogs. It is used for induction and maintenance of general anesthesia. The clear, colorless liquid comes in 250-mL bottles. Mask induction can use concentrations up to 7% in oxygen. Maintenance typically requires 3.3% to 4.0%. Commonly reported adverse reactions are hypotension, tachypnea, apnea, and emesis.
Generic Heart Medication and Pet Registry
Cronus Pharma LLC now offers Pimobendan Chewable Tablets. This is the first FDA-approved generic version of Vetmedin. It manages mild, moderate, and severe congestive heart failure in dogs caused by specific heart diseases. The inodilator improves cardiac output. It is available by prescription in four strengths.

Separately, DocuPet's National Pet Registry now integrates with the AnimalsFirst shelter software platform. This allows shelters to register pets at adoption. Each pet gets a free HomeSafe tag linked to an online profile to aid reunification if lost. AnimalsFirst serves about 120 animal welfare groups in North America.
Therapeutic Diets for Complex Conditions
Hill's Pet Nutrition has introduced two new Prescription Diet formulas. They are for pets with chronic kidney disease and concurrent skin or gastrointestinal sensitivities. The canine formula is k/d + Derm Complete. The feline formula is k/d + z/d Hydrolyzed. Both use a prebiotic fiber blend called ActivBiome+ Kidney Defense. This aims to activate the gut biome and reduce harmful waste buildup.
The dog food contains a novel protein for food sensitivity management. The cat food uses hydrolyzed proteins to avoid immune responses. Both diets have reduced phosphorus and sodium. They also have enhanced omega-3 fatty acids. They come in dry and wet forms and require a veterinary recommendation.
Feline Diabetes Guidelines and New Treats
The American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) has published the 2026 AAHA Diabetes Management Guidelines for Cats. These are AAHA's first recommendations focused solely on feline diabetes. They update the 2018 guidelines. New advice includes recommendations for SGLT2 inhibitors. They advise against in-hospital blood glucose curves due to stress hyperglycemia. The guidelines cover diagnosis, at-risk patient recognition, dietary management, treatment, and diabetic remission.
Finally, The Honest Kitchen offers Slow Cooked Jerky Chews for dogs. The treats have four ingredients: real meat, potato, coconut glycerin, and salt. They are free from wheat, soy, and artificial ingredients. Three human grade varieties are available: Ranch Raised Beef, Cage Free Chicken, and Wild Caught Salmon.
